These Terms govern your use of Civetta. By signing in or installing a Civetta device profile, you agree to them.
1. The service
Civetta is a DNS-level security service. We block known phishing, scam, and malware domains on devices that have a Civetta profile installed. You can share abstracted alerts with family members you explicitly authorize.
We strive for high availability but make no uptime guarantees. We'll always do our best to maintain the protections you're paying for.
2. Your account
You're responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials safe. You're also responsible for the activity on your account — including devices you register and family members you invite. Tell us right away if you suspect unauthorized access.
You must be at least 13 years old. Plans involving minors must be administered by a parent or guardian.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Reverse engineer, copy, or commercialize Civetta
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other tenants' data
- Use Civetta to surveil another adult without their explicit, ongoing consent
- Send abusive content through any channel we provide
4. Subscription, trial, billing
Civetta is offered as an auto-renewing subscription. On iOS, purchases and renewals are handled by Apple via In-App Purchase; your subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage and cancel your subscription anytime in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your iPhone.
Legacy web subscriptions purchased before the iOS launch continue to be processed by Stripe and can be managed via the customer portal accessible from your account.
Refunds for iOS subscriptions are handled by Apple via reportaproblem.apple.com. For other billing questions, email billing@civetta.app.
5. Family sharing
If you invite a family member to receive abstracted alerts, the relationship is governed by the dual-consent flow described in our Privacy Policy. You can revoke at any time. We commit to reflecting that revocation in our active systems within seconds and propagating it to caches and queues within minutes.
6. Termination
You can delete your account at any time from the Account screen inside the app; this removes your personal data per the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms — we'll explain why and give you a chance to fix it unless the violation is severe (fraud, abuse).
7. Limited warranty
Civetta is provided "as is." While we work hard to block real threats, no security product can prevent every attack. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.
8. Limitation of liability
We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
9. Changes
If we change these Terms materially, we'll email you at least 30 days before the change takes effect. Continued use after the effective date is your acceptance of the new Terms.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, USA. Any dispute will be resolved in Florida state or federal court, except where mandatory consumer-protection law requires otherwise.
